Established in 1921, Queen Margaret's School is a day school for girls and boys from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 7 and a university preparatory boarding school for girls only in grades 8 through 12 (boarding for grade 7-12).
Queen Margaret's is well known for its world-class equestrian program and now offers an ESL program for international students. The school emphasizes a balance of academic subjects with visual and performing arts, athletics and clubs, and community service.
The school is located on 27 country-like acres in the town of Duncan, British Columbia, a safe and secure environment within easy reach of the cities of Victoria and Vancouver. Our classes are small and our student population is approximately 300, allowing us to nurture and challenge each child and prepare each student to make a successful and meaningful contribution to society.
Queen Margaret's offers a comprehensive scholastic and extracurricular program providing opportunities for academic achievement and personal growth in a framework of traditional values. Queen Margaret's mission is to prepare its students to succeed in a changing world through a learning process that develops both ability and character.
We endeavour:
- To instill a love of learning;
- To provide skills necessary for the acquisition, processing, and expression of information;
- To develop critical thinking and creative expression; and
- To encourage self-discipline and independence in each student.
Queen Margaret's School keeps classes small, providing many opportunities to nurture and challenge each student. Recent graduates have been accepted to universities across Canada and the U.S., including McGill, Concordia, the University of Victoria, and Washington State University.
